New 2020/21 Season Launch Event

To launch the new 2019/20 season at CTC we are hosting a free afternoon of tennis on Sunday 29th March from 2pm to 5pm. This is open to current Junior and Adult members and their families, as well as any new prospective players of all ages, abilities/experiences who want to explore how you can play tennis at 2x Tennis Wales Club of the Year in 2020!

During the afternoon you will be able to:

  • Get on-court and enjoy a free game of tennis with your family, friends and other Club users. We have rackets and balls available for you to use so there’s no excuse not to get on-court as we begin the new 2020/21 season!
  • Plus attendees can take part in a drop-in Team Challenge with plenty of prizes up for grabs! Simply find a partner (could be a parent, sibling or friend) and challenge other participants to mini matches (singles and doubles) to earn points. Play as many or as few matches as you want, with all points counting to your score. Then, come the end of the event, the team with the most points overall will be crowned winners.
  • You’ll also be able to meet our coaches and volunteer committee, while taking a look at our amazing facilities both on the court and inside our clubhouse. There will be plenty of information for new players to get started at the Club, with weekly sessions available for Tots through to Adults, or existing players to add extra tennis to your week. Head Coach Jon will have some fantastic programme offers for various sections on the day!
  • Sign up to 2020/21 membership and save at least £5 per package, get your welcome pack and register as an LTA Lite Member for free!
  • And current players will be able to influence the result of our Coin Wars fundraiser one last time as it comes to an end at this event. Which team will be victorious and which player will win the free membership for the new season?
  • We also hope to have Joma and Total Teamwear Cardiff on hand to do another sizing session for our brand new CTCxJoma kit!

If you have any questions on the new season launch event, membership or the Club in general then please contact our Head Coach Jonathan Morgan on 07891 640642 or email jonathanmorgan@caerphillytennis.co.uk. And remember to follow CTC on social media  (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram) for updates from the Club each and every day on our coaching programme, special events, news and more!

Family Tennis Is Back At CTC For Sport Relief 2020!

As the nights begin to get lighter, the weather improves and the new tennis season is right around the corner, our Family Tennis initiatives are set to return to CTC on Friday 13th March! And both our Family Fun Fridays and Family Skills & Fitness session on this night will be special events as we will be using them to raise money for Sport Relief, which falls on the same night! Family Tennis For Sport Relief

  • Family Fun Fridays (FFF) is CTC’s original initiative to encourage families to get on-court together and enjoy up to 3 hours of tennis every week, between 4pm and 7pm!
    Non-members can use our fantastic courts for just 50p per person, while members play for free as part of their membership. We also offer free use of equipment (rackets and balls) and Head Coach Jon is always on hand to give beginners a few pointers or have a chat about how you can more tennis with us.
  • On Friday 13th March, FFF will be free to all although we would ask all players to make a donation to Sport Relief at our collection point inside the clubhouse or directly to Head Coach Jonathan Morgan.

  • And our innovative Family Skills & Fitness (FS&F) session is back for it’s third year, running every Friday at 5:30pm to 6:30pm!
    This session is split into two halves – the first concentrates on developing general sporting and tennis specific skills through various activities, while the second consists of Cardio Tennis style drills for you to build up a sweat and burn lots of calories. All activities will have varying levels of difficulty and adaptations to cater for all ages, abilities and experiences. It costs members just £1 each and non-members £2 each.
  • On Friday 13th March, our Family Skills & Fitness session will be a special Family Team Challenge as we raise funds for Sport Relief. Here you can team up with a family member (whether it’s parent and child, couple, siblings or any other combination within your family) and earn points through a series of FS&F inspired activities and games. There will be certificates for all, prizes for our winners and giveaways during the hour. Again, this will be free although players will be encouraged to make a donation to Sport Relief.

If you enjoy playing tennis with your family so much, we offer a Family Fun Friday Annual Pass as a membership package. This is £10 per individual or £15 per duo and enables free play at Family Fun Fridays as well as the discount on our Family Skills & Fitness session! With this membership, you can also enter the Wimbledon Ticket Ballot via free British Tennis Membership, vote at the AGM and join our committees.

February Half Term 2020 at CTC

– During February half term, all Junior coaching sessions will run as normal and see our first Team Challenge Match Week of 2020 take place with players taking part in various skill challenges.
(Note: there will be no sessions on Saturday 15th February, the first Saturday of half term, as Head Coach Jon will be attending the Tennis Wales Coaches Conference all weekend.)

– There will be no Adult coaching sessions during this week, as we instead encourage players to take part in our first Adults Australian Open Team Challenge event on Wednesday 19th February from 7pm. New for 2020, we are launching a brand new Grand Slam Team Challenge series for our Adult section, where we will not only crown event winners but also add scores to a yearly leaderboard! At each event, players can enjoy some friendly competition with each other as we celebrate the first major tennis tournament of 2020. Players should register to play by writing their name on the entry list on the noticeboard inside the clubhouse, or by contacting Head Coach Jon directly. Entry fee: Member £2, Non-members £4.
Our Ladies Night (Monday), Men’s Night (Tuesday) and Saturday Mixed Social will all run as normal during this week, again where all players are invited along.

– Following the continued success of our Mini Tennis Camps through 2019, they will return for 3 days during half term on Monday 17th February, Wednesday 19th February and Friday 21st February. Running from 10am to 3pm, they are a perfect blend of tennis coaching, games and matchplay as well as other sports/activities for 6 to 14 year olds. Players should dress appropriately for the weather and must bring food and drink for the day. We also run a small tuck shop for treats at lunchtime too.
Price per camp: CTC members £7, non-members £9. Payment via cash or cheque (made payable to Caerphilly Tennis Club). Spaces are limited and so advise you book in advance to guarantee your child a place. This can be done by printing, completing and handing in the booking form, by contacting CTC Head Coach Jonathan Morgan on 07891 640642 or at jonathanmorgan@caerphillytennis.co.uk or via the CTC social media platforms. Annual General Meeting – Wednesday 12th February at 7pm

After a hugely successful 2019, it’s time for the Caerphilly Tennis Club Annual General Meeting as we look to carry on our success and growth in to 2020, the new 2020/21 season and new decade. This year’s A.G.M will take place in the clubhouse on Wednesday 12th February at 7pm.

All players (Adults plus Juniors with their parents) are invited to attend as we:
– Reflect on the historic year we enjoyed at CTC in 2019;
– Explore opportunities for you to get involved in volunteering at the Club, in a way which suit your skills, lifestyle and commitment;
– Help shape the future of the Club for both the upcoming 2020/21 season and beyond;
– Show your support for the Club and appreciation for our volunteers.

Again this year, we would like to introduce a few additional volunteer roles as we look to share the current workload, open up new opportunities, expand our offer and continue to build links in the community. If you have a specific skill set or interest you think could help, please attend.
Why volunteer? There are well documented physical and mental benefits to volunteering. We offer support and training. You can give back to the Club, our users, the game of tennis and the community where you live and work.

If you have any questions about our AGM or volunteering opportunities, contact Head Coach Jonathan Morgan on 07891 640642 or jonathanmorgan@caerphillytennis.co.uk. And remember to follow CTC on social media  (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram) for the latest Club news.

Family Quiz Night – Saturday 7th December 2019

CTC will be hosting a Family Quiz Night on Saturday 7th December from 6pm to 8:30pm for players and their families. The quiz will feature questions for all ages and will be on various subjects, including a Christmas themed round, so you can test your knowledge against our quizmaster and others!

We have spaces for 10 teams to enter, with each team consisting of 4-6 players.
