Family Nights

Introduced back in 2014, our Family Nights have grown in to a huge part of our offering at CTC, and received much praise both locally and even by Judy Murray!

Running each Friday night throughout summer, they comprise of our original Family Fun Fridays initiative and our innovative Family Skills & Fitness session, to offer current players an extra chance to get on-court but also serves as a brilliant entry route in to the Club for the public who may wish to try tennis for the first time!

  • Family Fun Fridays (FFF) is CTC’s original initiative to encourage families to get on-court together and enjoy up to 3 hours of tennis every week, between 4pm and 7pm!
Non-members can use our fantastic courts for just 50p per person, while members play for free as part of their membership. We also offer free use of equipment (rackets and balls) and Head Coach Jon is always on hand to give beginners a few pointers or have a chat about how you can more tennis with us.
  • Our innovative Family Skills & Fitness (FS&F) session is back for it’s third year, running every Friday at 5:30pm to 6:30pm!
This session is split into two halves – the first concentrates on developing general sporting and tennis specific skills through various activities, while the second consists of Cardio Tennis style drills for you to build up a sweat and burn lots of calories. All activities will have varying levels of difficulty and adaptations to cater for all ages, abilities and experiences. It costs members just £1 each and non-members £2 each.
  • In 2020, we have also planned several Family Team Challenge events, which will be fun team competitions between families, with prizes up for grabs.

Family of 4 (parents plus twin boys aged 10) on Family Nights:
“It’s a great way for us [parents] to get back in to tennis having played many years ago, and for our boys to try a sport which they’ve always enjoyed watching. They fell in love with it very quickly and we think the initial family aspect was big part in that, but coach Jon’s enthusiasm helped too. Plus it’s unbelievable value [just 50p per player for up to 3 hours]. We play most weeks, weather permitting.”
