We hope everyone enjoyed the festive break and are all ready to get back on court playing tennis.

The new term of coaching at the Club starts next week (week beginning Monday 5th January 2015).

For this term, only Monday and Tuesday coaching sessions will run. (Additions to the weekly schedule will be made in time as the weather improves, and updates will be posted on our website as well as our Facebook and Twitter.)

The Club had a fantastic time hosting two separate Christmas events for our Junior section this week. Firstly, on Thursday 18th December we hosted a touchtennis tournament for all Teen players at the Club. Even with the wet and windy weather, 11 players attended, competed and enjoyed playing this variation of tennis. They also enjoyed some fast food after the on court action, which was fully deserved for their efforts. Then, on Friday 19th December we hosted our traditional Mini Tennis Party for all Mini Tennis players at the Club. It was drier although still chilly outside yet 14 players came along and had plenty of fun on court as well as tucking into burgers and chips afterwards.

Thank you to our coaches Jon, Andy and Kelsey for organising and running the events. Also, thanks to the team who cooked the food for the Mini Tennis party. And lastly, thank you to all players who attended and made these two events a brilliant way to end 2014 at Caerphilly Tennis Club!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all! We can’t wait to get back on court with everyone in 2015 as we look to close out our 25th anniversary and then head into the new 2015/16 season.

The Club will hold its annual Christmas events for all children who have attended coaching groups throughout the year. With the increase of players in all sections this season, we will be hosting two separate parties during the last week of term.

– We will host a touchtennis tournament for all Teen players on Thursday 18th December from 5:30pm til 7:30pm. Entry fees are £3 for members and £5 for non-members.
This will see players compete in a touchtennis round robin tournament with the top four players advancing to a knockout draw. The evening will also include food such as pizzas and/or KFC after the tennis.

– And we will host our traditional Christmas party for all Mini Tennis players on Friday 19th December from 4:30pm til 6:30pm. Cost is £4 for members, £6 for non-members.
This will include around an hour and a half of games on court, followed by burger and chips afterwards. Brothers and sisters of players are welcome to attend too.

All players are asked to return their reply slips and payment as soon as possible to guarantee a place. These will be given out in coaching sessions over the next few weeks but are also available here for both events.

And we will have our LTA advisor on hand for you to sign up to British Tennis Membership for free when you attend either of the Christmas events!

As part of our partnership with Sport Caerphilly, we are launching a new Tennis Tots session for 3-6 year olds next week!
The sessions will take place at Caerphilly Leisure Centre on Thursdays from 4pm til 5pm, beginning 20th November. Each session is £3, or you can book onto the initial 5 week course for only £10.

Sessions fall under Sport Caerphilly’s physical literacy program and will help players develop the fundamental areas of agility, balance and co-ordination, plus tennis racket and ball skills. Our coach will deliver the sessions with the help of Ace The Tennis Monkey, as well as parents being involved with their child.

We have completed yet another term of coaching at the Club, with a weeks break from activities over half term. The new term of coaching will start on the week beginning Monday 3rd November.

So far, very few sessions have been affected by the weather, and going forward all sessions will continue to run outside while it is still safe and reasonable to do so. To this extent, please ensure you/your child(ren) are dressed suitably for outdoor play each week.
Below is a breakdown of what will happen for current sessions if the weather prevents play on the courts outside.

Mini Red – coaching will take place inside the clubhouse.
Mini Orange – coaching will take place inside the clubhouse.
Mini Green – coaching will take place inside the clubhouse.
Teens – coaching will be replaced by a “social” hour inside the clubhouse.
Ladies and Men’s Night – coach will cancel if necessary, up to half an hour before start time. Otherwise, left to individuals to decide if they want to attend.

Other sessions on the weekly schedule will stop for the winter period, and restart in the spring (this includes Junior Night, Girls Only, Adult Beginners and Family Fun Fridays).

On Saturday 4th October between 10am and 1pm, we are hosting an open morning for current players on the coaching program and their parents. This morning will allow you to:

• Speak to the coaches on your childs’ development, with some players moving to new coaching groups now or in the near future.
• Complete our feedback questionnaire, with a random winner being selected to win a prize pack.
• Sign any Junior up as a member, for just £20! (which could save you up to £30 on coaching and events until 2015/16 season.)
  • And then you can sign up as a British Tennis member for free!
• Ask any further questions that you may have about the Club, coaching and playing opportunities or how to get more involved.
• Teen players will also be able to find out more information on the upcoming Tennis Leaders course we will run, after initial discussions during coaching sessions.
• And of course, play tennis with family and friends!
  

It will also allow the coaches to:

• Update players’ contact details, in case of emergency and to keep you up to date on coaching sessions, events and Club news.
• Explain coaching arrangements as we head to the winter months.

If you do not currently attend coaching but are thinking of beginning, you could also visit the Club on this day as the coaches will be on hand to help you.

The new term of coaching at the Club begins this coming week (week beginning 08/09/2014) after a two week break following a fantastic summer of tennis.

The weekly schedule will continue to run as during the summer, with only minor changes. For more information, please see the coaching page,  paying attention to the lesson descriptions below the timetable.
And just a reminder that sessions will continue to run in all weather, taking place inside the clubhouse if needed, although we will try to be out on court as much as possible.
