Caerphilly Tennis Club

With the new season well and truly here and summer appearing to be on its way, the weekly schedule has undergone a few changes.
Many session days and times remain the same but a few session times have changed as well as the introduction of some more coaching sessions.

April 1st 2013 marks the start of the new 2013/14 season and with that it is time for existing members to renew their membership or perfect timing for new members to join the club.
After many years of frozen membership prices, the committee agreed to increase the fees slightly to help push the club forward even more after large strides were made last year.

Membership to the club has many advantages such as:
– Unlimited access to the courts to play whenever you like.
– Discounts on session prices
– Entry to club teams and tournaments
– Entry into the Wimbledon ticket ballot for your chance to buy tickets for Wimbledon

The membership form for the new season can be downloaded here. Please then hand it in with payment to one of the coaches during your coaching sessions or alternatively post it to the address on the form.

And remember, if you attended the touchtennis event you are entitled to get this year’s membership at last year’s price!

All fees are due by May 1st 2013.

On Saturday 23rd March 2013, the club held its first touchtennis event to tie in with the beginning of the 2013/14 season.
Despite the cold weather, 15 players of all ages and ability came down to play some tennis. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all and the club can’t wait to hold the next one.

Thanks to the coaches who organised, promoted and coordinated the event. And thanks to all those who took part.

Coaching:

LC on the timetable is the leisure centre session, which one of our coaches runs at Caerphilly Leisure Centre.

All day camps:
Please note that all day camps will be held on Wednesday and Thursday of the first week, and then on Wednesday and Friday of second week, from 10am til 3pm.

If you wish to attend an all day camp, it is advised to book onto them in advance. To do so, please fill in one of these forms and bring along on the day, if not before, with payment. Alternatively, you can email one of the coaches with your child’s details. Their email address can be found here.

The club will be holding a fun & free afternoon of tennis on Saturday 23rd March, 2pm – 4pm to tie in with the beginning  of the new 2013/14 season. This event is for anyone – any age and any ability – to come along and play some tennis.

The event will include fun & games for Mini Red & Orange players, as well as some matchplay.
Whilst Juniors and Adults will have a chance to take part in the Club’s first touchtennis matchplay session.

Refreshments as well as prizes will be available to all on the day.

Anyone who attends the afternoon will have a chance to get their membership at last years price, whether a returning or new member!

The club are looking to select a committee at the Club’s 2013 Annual General Meeting (A.G.M) who want to help move the club forward further going into the new season and beyond. Any help which you can offer now or during the season is appreciated whether as part of the newly elected committee or normal member of the club.

This year the A.G.M will be held on Wednesday 20th February 2013 in the clubhouse and start at 7pm.

Due to the snow, the coaching team have decided to cancel all sessions for this week (21st-25th January 2013). Travelling to the club may still be risky for coaches and players alike, which is one of the main factors in this decision. Also, the courts are likely to remain unplayable during the week so all sessions would be limited to taking place inside the clubhouse.
