The sixteenth edition of the club newsletter covering the months of September and October has been uploaded here. Copies also available to view in the clubhouse.
This edition focuses on our first ever Club Forum and the exciting plans we have for the coming 6-12 months. It also features news about Cardio Tennis, #YstradTennis continuation and our new ball machine. And as always it includes a list of important upcoming dates and events, as well as news from the wider tennis world.

Caerphilly Tennis Club will be hosting a Quiz Night on Saturday 14th November at 5pm inside the clubhouse for players and their families. The quiz will feature questions for all ages and cover a range of topics, including a special tennis round. Fees are £1.50 for Juniors (under 18 years old) and £3 for Adults (over 18 years old). This fee is to cover the cost of the light refreshments we will provide, with any excess money being added to our Clubhouse Renovation Fund. There will be prizes for winning teams which include used tennis balls from Wimbledon 2015! It is expected to finish by 6:30pm.

We have listened to your feedback from our summer round which called for more social events and as a result have arranged this quiz night, so get your team together and put your knowledge to the test against others at CTC!

We are very excited to announce that our winter tennis provision in Ystrad Mynach will continue through to Christmas 2015 after a successful initial 6 week block and the securing of additional funding!

Sessions will continue every Saturday up to and including the 12th December 2015 (although please note there will be no tennis on 21/11/2015). These take place indoors at Sue Noake Leisure Centre in Ystrad Mynach and remain at just £2 per player. Coaching for 5-8 year olds is at 11am, while the session for 8-12 years olds takes place at 12pm.

Caerphilly Tennis Club will be holding its first ever Club Forum which all players and parents are encouraged to attend on Saturday 17th October at 3pm. This will include a short presentation including important information regarding the Club and the future, an open talk between committee and attendees, plus the chance to get on court with family and friends. The event is free to attend and some light refreshments will be provided. In addition to this, everyone who attends will receive a voucher entitling them to a free coaching session during the following week!

Free coaching session voucher terms and conditions:
One voucher per attendee. Non-transferable. Valid for use at a coaching session between 18/10/2015 and 25/10/2015. It has no cash value and must not be altered in any way or it may become void.

This edition focuses on the fantastic summer of tennis with us at CTC and how we closed it out with our Summer Finale. It also features the results of the first round of our new feedback scheme which ran over the summer holidays. As always it features a list of upcoming important dates and events, as well as news from the wider tennis world.

During the short summer break at the Club we have been working hard to ensure our outreach programme in Ystrad Mynach continues through the winter period after a fantastic launch during the summer. And we are very happy to now reveal that the programme will restart on Saturday 19th September!

Sessions will now take place indoors at Sue Noake Leisure Centre in Ystrad Mynach and continue to be only £2 per player. We have secured 2 hours each Saturday with the sessions being as follows: 11am : 5-8 years old, 12pm : 8-12 years old.

After a short summer break, weekly sessions at the Club will restart the week beginning Monday 7th September. The summer schedule, as shown here, will continue to run until further notice.

Please note that this does not include our programme at Ystrad Mynach Park. Although we are working on a solution to keep it running through autumn/winter we have not confirmed plans yet. A separate update will be posted in due course.

In a first for CTC, we have produced a report on our extensive Schools Tennis Programme that we have delivered this year. The full report can be found here, but highlights include:

• A total of 1721 children (cumulative total of 3268 players) experienced tennis within a school environment.
• 37 teachers from 28 schools trained via 2 LTA Primary Teacher Training Course.
• 120 pupils from schools within Caerphilly County Borough took part in our Primary Schools Tennis Festivals.
• We delivered tennis activity to over 500 school children as part of Sport Caerphilly’s Primary Schools Legacy Games.

The Club will host it’s Summer Finale on Saturday 22nd August, from 3pm. This will conclude summer activities at the Club as our coaches enjoy some much deserved time off before returning to the courts in September ready for our winter programmes.

To begin there will be on-court activities for all ages, with Mini Tennis players enjoying fun games with our coaches as Teen and Adults players can try their hand at some touchtennis. Having run previous touchtennis events, this alternative to the main game has been thoroughly enjoyed by all participants as it can level the playing field between beginners and veterans and produce some fantastic points!
Following the action on court we will have a BBQ and chances for social mix in play for all.

Members – Free to attend. Non-members – £4 (with half price vouchers included on flyers which are to be handed out in the coming weeks during coaching sessions at the Club and Ystrad Mynach, plus at our summer camps. These are valid for one individual and their direct family.)
