Schools Programme

In recent years CTC Head Coach Jon has built his own Schools Tennis Programme in an effort to give more children the chance to try tennis as part of their school day and inspire them to take this further to become regular players. This has seen the birth of relationships with 4 schools within Caerphilly as well as 1 in Ystrad Mynach, all which include the delivery of a prolonged tennis programme during the summer term plus school visits and competitions. In this time, we have also visited many other local schools to deliver special one-off tennis days or organise special trips to the Club for classes to experience a day of tennis coaching and matches. We hope to expand our own programme with our existing schools to include after-school clubs in the near future, so stay tuned!

CTC also works closely with Tennis Wales in this area and regularly participates in the Sytner MINI Schools Tour project, which supports school visits and a free festival. We were able to run a project for CTC and another for Ystrad Tennis in 2016 to much success, and have just found out that we can repeat this in early 2017!
We also link with Sport Caerphilly to support their events for primary school children, with the Legacy Games being a favourite of ours, as well as 5×60 provisions and school competitions.

In it’s first year, 2015, our new Schools Tennis Programme reached 1,721 children and this has grown in 2016 to reach 2,388 children!
