Caerphilly Tennis Club

Caerphilly Tennis Club is now offering FREE membership until the end of the 2011-12 membership period on 31st March 2012. So if you’ve always wanted to try your hand at tennis there is no better time!

An updated membership form will hopefully appear online soon. Alternatively you can pop down the club to sign up. Currently there should be a coach / committee member around between 5pm and 7pm, Monday to Wednesday.

The new membership period for 2012-13 starts on 1st April 2012 and current members should soon receive new membership forms and AGM details in the post.

Membership fees have now been reduced by 50% for the remainder of the year. You can download the membership form here.

Many thanks to Neale Watkins, Steve Jones, Ryan Chard, Andrew Morgan, Jonathan Morgan and Morgan Jones for taking the time help out. The clubhouse now looks great with freshly painted walls and a new look to the notice board!

This years Senior Club Tournament will take place on Saturday 10th and
Sunday 11th September.

On the Saturday will be the Men’s Singles and Mixed Doubles, and on
the Sunday will be Men’s Doubles.

Older junior members associated with the adult section are welcome to
enter.

It only cost £2 a tournament or £5 for all three.

not have one but want to enter the doubles then we’ll find someone for
u to play with).

This will be the first year names go on the ‘new’ champions shields so
lets make it a good tournament!

Caerphilly Mens 2nd Team secured the Division 5 East title in the Courtsall South Wales Summer Doubles League with a 9-0 rout of nearest rivals Dinas Powys 3rds. The team completed an unbeaten season, recording 9 wins and 1 draw to earn a second successive promotion!

Every player in team had a win percentage over 50% so well done to Mike Dury, Tom Edmunds, John Griffin, Geoffrey Hayward-Dobson, Jon Hillard, Morgan Jones, Steven Jones, Tim Lyons, Jon Morgan & Steven Muller.

The 1st team survived a season-long relegation battle to retain their place in Premier 2, keeping them within the top 10 teams in South Wales.

The Men’s 2nd team continued their good start in the Courtstall South Wales Summer Doubles League by recording a 4-2 victory away to David Lloyd 4. No.1 pairing Steven Jones & Steven Muller picked up 2 events to maintain their 100% record whilst pairings Mike Dury & Jon Hillard and John Griffin & Tom Edmunds picked up an event each to seal the win.

Unfortunately the team has been without a match since then as the last 2 matches have fallen foul of the weather.

Caerphilly Mens 2nd team has got off to the best possible start in Division 5 East of the Courtstall South Wales Summer Doubles League with home wins of 9-0 and 8-1 over Whitchurch 3 and Cardiff 5 respectively. Pairings Steve Jones & Steve Muller and Mike Dury & Jon Hillard achieving a 100% winning percentage whilst the pairing of John Griffin & Morgan Jones has also performed well. Next up is an away trip to David Lloyd 4 at 6pm on Monday 23rd May 2011.
